Let’s have a chat about clothes – specifically clothes at The Green Door .   If you haven’t been in to check out what we’ve got in stock, I think you should make the time.   I think you’ll be surprised at not only the QUALITY, but the PRICES.   The Green Door is first and foremost – a THRIFT BOUTIQUE.   That means we’ve got cool stuff (the “boutique” part) at very affordable prices (the “thrift” part).   Where can you get labels like Polo, Tommy, Nautica, J Crew, Ben Sherman, Calvin Klein, Land’s End , and Nicole Miller and get change back from your twenty?   Why, The Green Door, of course.   Women’s AND Men’s.   In The Green Door’s Men’s Department you will find suits and sports jackets, dress pants and shirts, thousands of ties (by the way, THIS is the year of the “thinner” tie and we’ve got ‘em), classy shoes, flops, deck shoes, spring and summer polo shirts and camp shirts, quite a selection of jeans and more Hawaiian shirts than you can   shake a stick at.   If you’re going

We had someone inquire about our solar-powered Queen Elizabeth which means some of you are actually reading our blogs.   Unfortunately the Queen is tied up until after THE wedding.   But she will be visiting The Green Door as soon as the Happy Couple leaves on their honeymoon. Is it Over-Alls?   Or Over-Hauls?   Whatever they’re called, we’ve got 6 pairs of ladies’ BIBS searching for a green thumb.   And while you’re here, why check out our summer camp shirts to wear under them.                                               EASTER  means the Resurrection of Christ.   Easter also means pink bunnies and baskets of brightly coloured eggs.   We’ve got both sides of the Easter coin covered.   Stop by and check our religious “artifacts” and Thumper and his friends from now until Easter.                                        ISABEL BLOOM    A small statue signed by the artist ©1999 priced at under $30 is looking for a place in your garden this summer.

St. Patrick’s Day at the Green Door This week The Green Door is joining in the festivities of St. Patrick’s day with a “green” display and free beer all week.   Not really, but we are selling anything with any green on it for half-price from now to the 17 th of March and that includes an enormous selection of GREEN t-shirts on display in the hallway.   The catch is that we will only honor these bargain prices if you mention you read it in our The Green Door blog. Jewels Hey, ladies and gents, we have more baubles, bangles and beads than you can shake a stick at.   Some vintage, some not.   From huge obnoxious necklaces to tiny dainty chains – we cover the entire gamut.   Also, remember PUCA shell necklaces?   Perfect for Spring Break at the beach.   We have sizes to fit all necks.                                           An Austin Hey y’all, it’s an Austin and they tell me it’s collectable since they stopped making them.   And it’s almost free, ‘cause we checked

The Green Door is open for business and we need customers.   Lots and lots of customers. Do you know that you can drive to Mt. Vernon in the same time it takes you to drive across Cedar Rapids ? We have almost completely redone the shop and think we have a pretty nice looking space with some cool stuff -- besides top-of-the-line clothing at bottom-of-the-line prices. Did you know that Americans throw away 12.4 million tons of textiles (clothing) each year? Now you can look at this two ways: ONE   If you’re going to throw away your clothing anyway, you should buy gently used clothing and save yourself a lot of money. TWO   Instead of paying $87.50 for a new Ralph Lauren shirt at Younkers, why not buy the same shirt (okay, okay . . .   someone else may have worn it already) for a TENTH of the price? Here’s partial list of our current inventory: Men’s and Women’s Fine Clothing (including one pair of striped overalls that Grant Wood MAY have worn.) Men’s and Women’s Accessories
