The Green Door is blogging again.   Hope you haven’t forgotten about us! But in case you have . . . .   This blog is coming to you via Taiwan as in – half-way-around-the-World-Taiwan. David started putting The Green Door’s Blog together when we first opened.   His Visa ran out and he had to return to his home in Taiwan .   But he promised me that if I sent him the copy, he would continue to put the Blog together for me.   So here goes . . .all the way from Taiwan. Well, it appears that good old summer is well underway.   With the 4 th of July right around the corner, it won’t be long before we will be harvesting our pumpkins. But I’m getting ahead of myself.   There’s still plenty of summer remaining which means there is still time to add to your summer wardrobe with a visit to The Green Door .   Right now through the 4 th of July we have a rack of T-Shirts and Hawaiian Shirts on sale. Well, it’s been a pretty slow week at the First Street Community Center :   home to Anything But Ordinary Gift Shop, Carolyn’s School House Antiques , Rm. 222 , Enchanted Treasures and The Green Door .   But we all know business is going to pick up this week with Saturday’s Chocolate Stroll.   The Center is providing musical entertainment throughout the day in front of the building. . . .The Eastern Iowa Brass Band, the cast of Mt. Vernon High School ’s High School Musical and a whole lot more. Come take advantage of our hospitality.   It’s truly a “Mayberry Moment” in Mt. Vernon , IOWA . Inside, The Green Door   will have t-shirts on SALE for $1.07 and a table of $1 and $5 mark-down items.   And I believe the other shop keepers will have sales’ tricks up their sleeves as well.   So put The Chocolate Stroll on your list of Things to Do THIS SATURDAY!!! Welcome back, Friends of The Green Door .   Summer’s back.   No wait, not summer.   Today it was more like a nippy fall day.   Hold on now, the daffodils and lilacs are out in full force so it must be spring.   TRENDS Well, it’s almost summer.   Does that preclude you from wearing jackets?   Absolutely not! (see above)   Lightweight tweed, cotton and silk jackets add dressed-up charm to summer frocks as seen at Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and The Green Door .   We have had many ladies leave The Green Door with an armload of jackets including Karla Moran who now has one for every day of the week.   Don’t panic.   We still have plenty more.   Come in and partake before your size is gone.
