Let’s have a chat about clothes – specifically clothes at The Green Door.  If you haven’t been in to check out what we’ve got in stock, I think you should make the time.  I think you’ll be surprised at not only the QUALITY, but the PRICES.  The Green Door is first and foremost – a THRIFT BOUTIQUE.  That means we’ve got cool stuff (the “boutique” part) at very affordable prices (the “thrift” part).  Where can you get labels like Polo, Tommy, Nautica, J Crew, Ben Sherman, Calvin Klein, Land’s End, and Nicole Miller and get change back from your twenty?  Why, The Green Door, of course.  Women’s AND Men’s.

In The Green Door’s Men’s Department you will find suits and sports jackets, dress pants and shirts, thousands of ties (by the way, THIS is the year of the “thinner” tie and we’ve got ‘em), classy shoes, flops, deck shoes, spring and summer polo shirts and camp shirts, quite a selection of jeans and more Hawaiian shirts than you can  shake a stick at.  If you’re going the suit/sport coat route, remember, no suit/sport coat is complete without a classic tie.  This year we’re pushing skinny ties and small knots.  And we’ve got them all.  There’s the repp (striped), the madras (a cotton plaid), and the foulard (repeating patterns).

Women’s Department you say?  You can count on cool shoes, spring coats and jackets, dresses and separates, jeans and tops, good clothes to wear for special occasions and play clothes to wear every day.  We also have lots and lots of jewelry, some very simple and some bordering on the bizarre.

The BIG RUMOUR is that PROM is drawing nigh.  At this moment we have only one tuxedo jacket at $37 remaining in our shop.  We do have a couple of pairs of tux pants (@ $16) and a couple of winged collar tux shirts (@ 5 bucks a pop).  And we have one pair of shiny, shiny patent leather tux shoes in SIZE 11.  Starting next month we will be showing quite a number of glitzy little PROM numbers and several little black dresses – the mainstay of any young woman’s wardrobe. And for those of you who tend to like a little more edge to your prom, you might browse through our ever-growing vintage section.

So won’t you please stop by The Green Door soon and let us help you “find your magic”!

Did you know that The Green Door has the only Official Spider Man pillow in town?
If we don’t sell it this week, we’re thinking of sending out to New York to help cushion the falls of the actors in the new (only in previews, not yet officially opened) 65 million dollar stage version of SPIDER MAN.

Were we ever surprised when after snagging a Norman Rockwell print, a plethora of pillows depicting Norman Rockwell’s best known drawings and paintings showed up at our door.  Think of it.  Your guests comment on the new Normal Rockwell print hanging in the hallway and you say, “But just wait until you see the Matching Pillows!”  NOW YOUR SOFA CAN MATCH YOUR ART!

Remember!  We’re covering all our bases this Easter.  Check out this terrific JESUS ACTION FIGURE.  We also have several other “religious” items in stock that you will need to see to believe.  And on the opposite side of the Easter Coin, The Green Door has recently been the site of a BUNNY EXPLOSION.  There are BUNNIES everywhere you look.  Some sing, some talk and some just want to cuddle.  And don’t worry about germs.  Everything in The Green Door has been washed, scrubbed and steam blasted before we put it out on the floor.

I’m really pushing these JOURNALS.  We’ve got JOURNALS for viewing FILMS and JOURNALS for keeping track of your Golf Game.  And we’ve got gobs of just plain journals waiting for your private thoughts and ramblings.  Not only are these JOURNALS priced to sell, but think of the money you’ll save by making THEM your therapist.

ART.  We’ve got IT.  All over our walls.  On the floors.  Leaning up against anything strong enough to support it. We’ve got originals, prints, photography.  On the 3-D side we’ve got glass and pottery and Battenburg Lace; original jewelry and some home-made kitch (no, that’s NOT something you can eat!)  EVERYBODY needs more ART and our prices won’t put you in the Bread Line.  We just sold a Picasso the other day for 23.98 + tax.  Of course it was a Frank Picasso who lives just down the street and not Pablo, but I’m sure somewhere there’s a connection.

Yeah, we have watches – guys and gals.  But do you know where you can get the best watch you’ll ever own?  And, no, it’s not at The Green Door this time (although we have plenty of them).  It is or was on your dad’s wrist.  My watch is a really old Zenith automatic that belonged to my father.  He bought it shortly after I was born, and it’s this really simple watch – off-white, small, and slim, with hash marks instead of digits.  And of course it was my dad’s, so I love it.

THIS is US.  THIS is a picture of our BUILDING so you can find us.  People are still dropping by telling us how pleased they are that they found our businesses.  And WE are pleased as well.  So, if you can’t remember
221 First Street NE
, just print out this picture of our BUILDING and match it up with a building that looks just like it.  Oh, make sure you are in Mt. Vernon when matching.  This game could go on a long time if you are driving around Center Point.

Have a CULTURAL week everybody, and we’ll talk again next Monday.
