Holiday Greetings! Remember us?!?

Since my shop assistant has returned to his home in Taiwan, it has become painfully obvious to me that running and operating a shop by myself can prove to be almost full-time employment. So we all miss David – Merridy, Carolyn, Kevin, Trude and especially me. And we all wish him the happiest of holidays! That said, I am happy to report that David has agreed to keep our Green Door blog up and running more consistently. I am very grateful.

In the past couple of months, sales suggest that The Green Door is slowly becoming a popular place for people to shop – the prices are right, the merchandise is in great shape and the place is full of stuff you won’t find anywhere else. Also, we are always adding new items so it behooves you to make frequent trips to The Green Door to check out the New, the Thrifty and the Unique.

Only 8 more shopping days until Christmas. We have been getting our share of holiday shoppers looking for that perfect gift. They know that their dollar is going to stretch a lot further in our shop and they know that they are very likely to find the best present they never even knew existed until they came through our doors.

Here are a few last minute Holiday Present Possibilities.

Coats and Jackets. Need a new coat or jacket for the winter ahead? We have quite a large selection of outerwear from vintage topcoats to sheep-fur lined winter jackets, from cashmere/camel hair overcoats to down filled jackets and vests and we have plenty to go around. At our prices you never have to choose between your TWO favourites. You can take both of them and leave with money in your pocket.

Pottery. The Green Door always tries to keep a nice selection of hand-thrown pottery. I was so happy to be able to visit with my friend and phenomenal potter goddess, Clary Illian last Sunday when she stopped by to check us out. I won’t lie – our selection of Clary’s pots isn’t huge, mostly because if I come across them, I keep them. Every now and then, however, a piece or two slips by me and finds its way to the Green Door. Sweaters. Well, we began this Christmas Season with a couple dozen Christmas Sweaters and we are down to ONE. Most were purchased for Ugly Sweater Contests (I actually thought many of them were quite lovely). We still have plenty of men’s and lady’s sweaters for you to give as Christmas Presents. All of them look brand-new except the ones that were chosen especially because they were a little worn.

Crystal. Nothing shouts CHRISTMAS! better than crystal. The Green Door has many pieces of beautiful crystal to brighten up your holidays.

Ornaments. The Green Door is pleased to be able to offer quite a diverse selection of Christmas Ornaments this year. From pregnant mothers to over-weight golfers; from vintage to brand new and still in their boxes, the ornaments you will find while shopping with us are just a bit different than your run-of-the-mill Target brands.

Christmas Cards. Why buy boxes and boxes of the same Christmas Cards? At The Green Door we have a huge mix of Christmas Cards ranging from the appropriately religious to over-the-top funny. You should choose your Christmas Cards like you choose your Birthday Cards – individualize this Christmas!

Books. It has always been my thought that BOOKS make the perfect Christmas gift especially for the person that’s hard to buy for. What are their hobbies? Do they like animals? Have they always wanted to travel in space? We have books on those topics and more. We have masses of books. We have beautiful CHILDREN’S books, many with stuffed creatures to go with them. This Christmas – Buy Books!!

Snow Globes. I love snow globes, personally…… your own little Christmas scene that you can eavesdrop on when the mood strikes you. And there’s always some tinkly music underscoring the lives of the folks inside the Watery Wonderland. We still have 4 or 5 left for this Christmas. Start collecting snow globes this Christmas or better yet start a collection for someone you love.

Men’s Shoes and Women’s Shoes. We got ‘em. Some are brand new. Except for a few that were purchased because they looked worn in, most of our shoes look like they are right out of the box. And I believe we have sizes for everybody on your Christmas List.

Jeans. Everyday I come to the shop, I wonder to myself, ‘Why haven’t our jeans been selling?!? We have a lot of brand name jeans at a fraction of their price at Von Maurs. Some of the jeans I picked up in South Beach last Christmas. Everyone should own at least ONE PAIR of fantastic, out-of-this-world jeans. Lots of people already do and you can bet they paid in the hundreds of dollars for them. You can pick up the same jeans at The Green Door for less than thirty. Some pairs are as low as four or five dollars. Be the Rock Star you already are!!!
